Requirements for artists residencies in each V4 country are very different. To remedy the situation, Nová síť initiated in 2020 the project Connecting V4 ART-IN-RES which maps the situation pertinent to artists residencies within the V4.
This block will provide space for a meeting of the partners of Connecting V4 ART-IN-RES project. The Prague meeting will be the fourth (previously held in Katowice/PL, Budapest/H, and Košice/SK) and it will conclude the entire project. The project’s output will map the situation in each country and set up future cooperation in assistance with the Visegrad Fund.
Since the beginning, Connecting V4 ART-IN-RES’s goal was to establish closer collaboration with the Belarusian independent scene. Recent events in Belarus, however, prompted us to make changes to some activities originally scheduled to take place in Minsk. They are now included in Malá Inventura 2020’s programme. The project CONNECTING V4 ART-IN-RES has been initiated and organized by Nová síť with financial support provided by the Visegrad Fund.
Events of the past two years have pointed out again to fragmentation of the cultural sector and revived the idea of collaboration between independent art scene and large cultural institutions. We have invited representatives of the National Theatre in Prague, Brno and Ostrava to discuss how state-funded institutions, such as the Czech National Theatre, could open up, what they could learn from the independent scene and what benefits they could see in such collaboration.
