Studio MoreThanThat is an artistic research practice that focuses on the intersection of architecture, immersive art and intimate performances. Taking a phenomenological approach in their work, the studio focuses on projects that are centered around the sensory spectrum (touch, smell, taste, sound and sight) of the spectator. They playfully delves into perception and memory of space, while critically questioning the dominance of visual stimuli in our surrounding environments, often obscuring or de-emphasizing ‘the need to see’ in a performance.
The authors of ‘Temple of Chroma’ are Emmanuela Mastora (Greece) and Nitish Jain (India) and they are currently based in Prague. Both Emma and Nitish are architects and met during their Scenography Masters’ at DAMU. As multidisciplinary artists, they discovered a shared interest in creating performative installations that invite audiences into unique atmospheres that are rich in tactility and storytelling.
