Graduates and Liminal Practices

Dramaturgical Inventory II focuses on recent graduates, early-career dramaturgs, and forms of dramaturgical practice that operate at the boundaries of the field. It opens questions of professional identity, generational transition, and the relationship of the younger generation to institutional forms of association.

The discussion is grounded in the experience that young dramaturgs are only marginally represented within existing professional structures. Rather than seeking to assign blame, it proposes a shared inquiry: what does this situation reveal about current definitions of dramaturgy, and about practices emerging today at the intersection of theatre, performance, curating, and festival work? The Malá inventura festival offers a natural context for opening up these questions.

Dramaturgical Inventories
Discussions devoted to dramaturgical practice have long been an integral part of the Malá inventura festival programme. Together with other initiatives, they have contributed to connecting dramaturgs across the scene and to the gradual formation of the Association of Theatre Dramaturgs.

At the current stage, these discussions are shifting from raising the visibility of the profession towards engaging with themes closely aligned with the nature of the Malá inventura festival — margins, transitions, and modes of practice that operate outside institutional centres.
