Captain’s First Strike

“What scared me the most was that at thirty you’re still dealing with the same things as us.” Eva (17 years old) In the theatre project Captain’s First Strike, two seemingly different worlds meet, two teams: TWO GENERATIONS. On a dodgeball field they clash with authorities from their past and present. They learn to face them and find their own voice, independent of those who shaped it. They discover that their stories are similar in many ways and that some demons have been around for many years and many generations.

“You’re lucky you’re at least a bit pretty since you’re so da.” Physics teacher (about 45 years old) What do you know about teenagers today, about what they experience and what they feel? How are their ideas reflected in the generation of thirty-somethings? What fears do these two groups share? When will someone’s voice finally get to be heard? As a group called 11:55, we reached out to creators who are a generation younger to find out. We perform, create costumes, sets, music as well as manage our promotion in intergenerational teams. We explore individual stories and situations, but we also want to see how many of us share a particular story or situation. Sharing stories and finding common solutions to complex situations gives us strength, perspective and faith that things can be changed if we become aware of them.

After the performance there will be a mini-discussion with the creators. Moderated by Zuzana Šklíbová.
