We arrive to an island. It's slowly getting dark and the day is turning into the year’s longest night. We are observers, perceiving everything differently than usual. Everything seems suddenly important. What an odd smelling warm water, how the wind blows, and it gets dark soon. Dark creatures from the sea that climb to the lighthouse only when almost all inhabitants of the town are asleep. The polar lights hide behind the clouds, but we all know that this strange entity is out there somewhere. Lonely farms at the foot of the mountains, enormous glaciers. Empty plains. Black plains and seals on stones in hiding. A special light that makes one feel that every minute here is more unique than anywhere else. We learn to understand and know all this. The islanders are preparing for the upcoming Celebration of Night. They act mysteriously and everyone plans to celebrate the night in a different way. We try to follow their steps and hope that we won’t get lost in the endless darkness. Puppets- and objects-based event at one table for two performers and eight spectators inspired by a study abroad in Iceland.
